A 'Crackdown' on Democracy
South Dakota has a rich history of voters taking matters into their own hands when their state leaders fail to act. It is called the citizen ballot initiative and we have been doing it around here since 1898.
But in 2021 the South Dakota Legislature placed Amendment C on the June 2022 primary ballot. It is a constitutional amendment requiring 60% approval for citizen ballot initiatives like Medicaid expansion.
They tried to pass a similar measure in 2018, but South Dakotans said NO. We beat them then and we will beat them in 2022, with your help...
Amendment C is a big money CON JOB!
Kristi Noem and the South Dakota Legislature placed Amendment C on the June 2022 Primary Ballot. They did this for a reason. Fewer people vote in primaries.

PERMANENT CHANGE TO BALLOT INITIATIVES:
A superficial 60% vote threshold will become part of the state constitution. Future laws like MEDICAL MARIJUANA could be subject to it FOREVER. -
NO ACCOUNTABILITY: Kristi Noem and the South Dakota Legislature gets all the power here — not the voters of South Dakota. Who knows what they will do next?

NOT NEEDED: We’ve been using citizen initiatives since 1898. 50% is good enough to get elected to the legislature. Why change the vote threshold now?
